My petty cash is out by $198.36. Is there an accounting tip/trick to try to figure out the error?
Double checked all receipt entries!!! Ending balance used to show $200.00 but now shows $398.36 in program. Transactions have been altered by $198.36 but I do not have a receipt for this amount.

The sum of the digits is not evenly divisible by 9, so it is not a transpostion error (for example 98 vs 89…the difference is 9. 275 vs 257… the difference is 18, a number evenly divisible by 9).
At this point, I would look for a number that is 1/2 or 2 times the number and investigate. For example, if 198.36/2 = 99.13, maybe that number was posted twice in error. Also, if 198.36*2 = 398.72, maybe the 198.36 was posted twice somewhere.
If that doesn’t work, then a receipt is missing or someone has sticky fingers!
